August ‘23 Press Release

Harwich Woman’s Club, Inc. – NEW for YOU!!

It’s a totally new year for the Harwich Woman’s Club in so many different ways!!  Established over 50 years ago with a strong tradition of helping others, the Harwich Woman’s Club (HWC) voted more than a year ago to leave the Massachusetts General Federation of Women’s Clubs.  In the interim, committees wrote by-laws, applied for and received non-profit status, and set up new bank accounts - all while dedicated members followed through on their 2022-2023 charitable goals.  Harwich Woman’s Club, Inc. is now its own non-profit entity ensuring that all dues money stays in the community where the membership will then be able to spearhead more charitable projects!  HWC, Inc. honors the past by retaining its traditional name while becoming incorporated to ensure a bright future.

The new by-laws offer the membership even greater participation in the HWC’s operations.  The leadership of the HWC has reorganized itself into a 13-member board with several working committees and project managers. Doing so has already fostered much enthusiasm among the members. Project ideas are plenty.  Everyone is committed to a stronger organization, and more expansive goals for aiding our community.  HWC, Inc. is gearing up for a great year! Check the website:  harwichwomansclub.org

Meetings are held at the Harwich Community Center the second Thursday of each month, September through May, beginning at 1:30 pm.  Most often, a speaker will follow the club’s business meeting and reports.  Membership is open to any woman 21 or older who resides full or part-time on Cape Cod.  If you are interested in knowing more about this vibrant group of dedicated women, come to the first meeting scheduled for 1:30, September 14, at Harwich’s Community Center.  You can hear about the charitable programs planned for the year, speak with the membership chair, and join us.

Harwich is a wonderful community; but there are many in need.  HWC, Inc. strives to lessen their burdens with dignity and compassion.    We would love to have you join us in those worthy efforts.
